According to the world population projection of the United Nations in 2019, the world’s population is expected to reach approximately 10 billion people by 2050. According to this study, the human population is anticipated to increase by 60% in 50 years compared to the population in the year 2000. Although some researchers state that studies on population expectations tend for speculation, there is one thing that experts agree: the world population will increase in folds in the next 50 years. Do you think we can talk about the presence of resources to feed a population increasing so rapidly?
While the resources of our planet are becoming more and more scarce, due to the local and global migration problem, productive agricultural fields are being abandoned. According to research conducted in late 2017, 100 million hectares of agricultural fields in Russia are completely left and abandoned! It was also noted that those fields were highly productive in the past, and nature took them over after abandonment, turning them into arid lands.
Fields and agricultural lands are becoming vacant due to immigrations from villages to cities, and villages and towns which had their micro-systems a few decades ago are now turning into ghost towns. Nowadays the people choose to work at large companies as workers perhaps at the cost of lower incomes rather than making production. We can make an inference in connection with the previous paragraphs: the population is increasing, and such a rapidly increasing population is heading towards consumption only in an unqualified manner, and the large lands to feed this increasing population are being abandoned and wasted.
In this case, we have two problematic classes of people to do the production; small- and large-scale businesses. Small-scale family businesses are mostly trying to conduct production under primitive conditions, they insist on traditional, protective methods rather than following the latest trends, and they are unable to achieve maximum yield from their production. Once the elder generation of family members die, the lands are divided among inheritors, and the division and splitting of lands in such a way destroys the yield potential. In addition to this dilemma, wrong irrigation techniques and chemical fertilizer use due to ignorance are destroying underground water reserves, damaging nature. These factors are risking the future of our planet.
Big families and companies, on the other hand, are giving rise to different issues. The world’s agriculture is almost in the hands of a few companies. Insofar, these companies are holding everything associated with the industry from grains to seeds and pesticides. They are almost in the position to decide who starves and who does not. These agriculture cartels have the power to determine market price according to the products on their hands, and they are capable of increasing and reducing the supply of a product, thus they are leading to economic sanctions and difficulties for countries and people.
Problems like rapidly increasing world population and decreasing resources, huge agricultural fields evacuated by immigrations, lack of training and qualified personnel, wrong irrigation techniques, agriculture cartels, etc. are the main issues for agricultural production and our planet. We as AvocaDAO believe that if there is a major problem somewhere, solving these problems will bring profitable awards!

AvocaDAO builds commercial orchards (fruit gardens), decentralizes them, operates the gardens together with DAO, and distributes the profit to the AvocaDAO community. One of the collaboration opportunities that emerge with the development of blockchain technology is DAOs. The objective of AvocaDAO is to enable people to become a partner of a real organization with using the blockchain. We believe that DAOs will replace today’s companies and boards of directors. However, some of the problems we currently face are because nearly all of the present WEB 3.0 and DAO projects are related to finance or have the objective of solving micro-problems that concern a small group of people or they create an artificial, temporary value through speculation and hype. We as AvocaDAO believe that it is about the time we reveal the potential of Web 3.0. Yes, once Web 3.0 becomes widespread, people will join in business meetings over metaverse and meet their social entertainment needs over metaverse but they will also have to keep consuming food. Hence, we are planning to establish the world’s first blockchain-based real organization.
In particular, people who invest in highly volatile instruments such as NFTs and crypto money can invest in a real agriculture organization to diversify their portfolio and to have a better balanced financial health. The advantages of an agricultural organization are the very low volatility and are less prone to manipulation compared to other investment tools. Investing in a market where supply-demand balances are well-established in several years enables us to create more realistic predictions and goals towards the future. Thus, we can have an asset that will generate passive income in the medium- and long term.
Additionally, increasing yields of a planted garden by each year will result in the growth of investments and profits. Thus, a direct increase in value will naturally occur in time. Of course, as it is mentioned in ‘’How?’’ section, the amount of investment to be made and the amount of profit to be distributed will be determined by the votes of DAO.
Another topic we would like to mention in ‘’Why?’’ section is that AvocaDAO will be the first project to carry a real organization into the blockchain. Our team is constituted of experts in the fields of blockchain, cryptocurrencies, farming, and legal affairs. All of the similar projects are reviewed in the maturation period of this idea. The major problem with these projects is the investment of funds collected as crypto money on risky cryptocurrencies once more. Teams that are far from risk analysis and fund management will expend the collected treasury on risky investments in no time. Moreover, since an amount of airdrop is sent to each token owner in projects that emerge as a token, the amount of profit obtained from the investment will become unsatisfactory as the number of people keeping their tokens in their wallets increase.
As we investigated in depth in the ‘’How?’’ section, AvocaDAO limits the number of people to join the AvocaDAO community and shares the profit to a maximum of 10.000 people by issuing only 10.000 NFTs. This number is high enough to democratize the management of the fields and small enough to ensure the satisfaction of people with the number of dividends and other incomes to be distributed.
In other terms, if we look from a traditional perspective, we can consider AvocaDAO as a company with 10.000 circulating shares. The value of the shares (NFTs) will be shaped according to supply-demand expectations of the 3rd persons in the market. However, we anticipate that more people will want to become a partner of this agricultural production project and wish to buy NFT as a result of a transparent, sustainable, and democratic atmosphere to be formed by following the road map planned for AvocaDAO. This leading to an increase of NFT values in the secondary market.
Our first goal is to become the largest producer of avocado fruit in the area and be the largest supplier for Europe due to our geographical advantage. We investigated that hundreds of thousands of tons of avocado are exported from South American countries to Europe, and there are certain issues with the European States in that respect. The biggest importer of avocado produced in South America (Peru, Mexico, Chiles) is the United States of America, therefore we see that Avocados shipped to Europe are lower in quality because of the geographical proximity of these countries to the United States of America. We anticipate that we can quickly enter to European market due to our geo-economical position advantage.
Some Data You Need to Know in ‘’Why?’’ Section
- According to data of the Foreign Affairs Department of Netherlands on 15 December 2021; France imported 144 thousand tons, Germany imported 105 thousand tons, the United Kingdom imported 100 thousand tons, and Spain imported 115 thousand tons of avocado from South American countries.
- Avocado prices do not circulate in a stable loop, and prices are determined according to the dynamics of producer countries. For example, prices can go below the normal prices due to supply shock when harvest for export begins in Peru. Avocados, which have buyers over the high prices in 8 months of the year can be sold at low prices when producers release high volumes to the market during the export period.
- The price of a 4 kilos avocado box sold to Europe is in the average range of 8–10 dollars whereas there is a price up to 15 dollars in the last few years.
- Turkey has been growing avocados since the 1970s. Today, 80% of the production in Turkey is located in Antalya / Alanya — Gazipaşa provinces. Such a large volume of production concentrated in a small area has led to a build-up of experience.
The area we chose for investment has a high geographical advantage. The fact that it is much closer to ports, domestic market, European States and Russia compared to the competitors; the close political standing of Turkey towards England, Spain, and Germany, and inclusion of Turkey into a common customs union as part of a strategic partnership with Europe are among the advantages of AvocaDAO.
The idea of AvocaDAO emerged from the brainstorming of experts of cryptocurrencies and blockchain, people who dealt with tropical farming in Antalya before and have a good knowledge of export to Europe, and legal experts.
In addition to all, more than 50% of employment in the field and agricultural production business in Turkey are female workers. We as the AvocaDAO are planning to maintain this rate and provide employment opportunities for women, fairly approach our staff from all levels, and support each other on the journey of production that we started with DAO.
